As of 2021, New Yorkers have only two options when seeking help for mental health crises. Neither of which are appropriately equipped to handle cases of serious mental illness.
Emergencies are life threatening, or potentially violent, situations that demand immediate response. In such instances, the public should summon police by calling 911.
If you are concerned about a family member, friend, acquaintance, or neighbor who is experiencing a mental health crisis, please call (888)-692-9355
